OCA SACRAMENTO

MAAP Mentorship Program

Mentoring Asian American Professionals....cultivating the next generation of confident, empowered,

equipped, and collaborative professional leaders.

OCA Sacramento chapter is focused and committed to investing in the future of Asian American professional leaders and planning on implementing the MAAP program in July of 2012 . The National OCA MAAP program, with the generous sponsorship of UPS, will cultivate the next generation of Asian American professional leaders through mentoring, skills building, and networking. The program pairs Asian American professionals with experienced leaders in their field. As part of the mentoring process, participants will create a personal strategic plan allowing them to identify ways to achieve their professional as well as personal goals.

MAAP is a three month program with four 1:1 mentoring meetings and two mentoring network sessions. Mentors and mentees are strongly encouraged to meet at least once a month to discuss specific career-building topics. Discussion guides will be provided for each topic.

Overarching Goal:

To cultivate the next generation of confident, empowered, equipped, and collaborative Asian American professional leaders through mentoring, skills-building, and networking. Participants will create a personal strategic plan that will allow them to identify ways to achieve their personal and professional goals.

Objectives:
  • Facilitate a strong one-on-one mentoring relationship for participants to discuss career-building topics that integrate social responsibility.
  • Provide a pool of mentors for mentees to contact for advice  and consultation.
  • Provide a forum for AAPI professionals to network and learn from their peers.
  • Strengthen relationships between the Business Advisory Council (BAC) and the local OCA chapters.
  • To offer an opportunity for local chapters to engage with their communities through collaborations and to recruit new members through the participation pool.
