OCA's National Convention

August 2-5, 2012

Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino

Las Vegas, NV

The OCA National Convention is drawing over a thousand people from around the country for educational, cultural, and networking events. OCA seeks input from our chapters, members, and partners on potential program topics and speakers.

The theme of this year's convention is "GOTV2: Get Out To Vegas, Get Out The Vote!" As OCA continues to move forward with its mission, the theme will not only focus on efforts to ensure that voices of APAs are amplified through electoral participation, but it is an opportunity for us to engage more deeply on a number of pivotal issues for our communities such as immigration reform, economic development, education at all levels, access to quality health care, and advocacy against violence.

As a member, receive discounts to attend OCA’s annual National Convention.

As OCA continues to move forward with its mission, the theme of this year’s convention GOTV2 –Get Out To Vegas, Get Out The Vote, will focus on civic engagement and activism. The workshops and panels will center around ensuring our voices as APAs are heard through the community and ballots, but will also continue to focus on advocacy and issues that play a significant role within the population.

Nevada has experienced one of the most rapid population surges of any state. Between 2000 and 2010 the Asian Pacific Americans (APAs) population has expanded by 116% making up approximately 8% of the population--that is over 3% greater than the national figure.

Meet and reunite with OCA members, attend free workshops, youth & college day and see what concrete APA dreams are made of!
