MIDDLE-AGED ASIAN WOMEN NEEDED FOR MEDICAL STUDIES I am Chia-Chun Li, a research assistant and doctoral student in UT-Austin, and come from Taiwan. Now I work with Dr. Im. As you know, Asian-Americans are increasing rapidly in U.S and their health issues become very crucial. There are two studies which are funded by National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) and are conducted by Dr. Eun-Ok Im who is a professor in UT-Austin, school of nursing. The first study is “A Multiethnic Internet Study on Menopausal Symptoms”, and the second one is “Ethnic Specific Midlife Women's Attitudes toward Physical Activity”. These two studies are Internet studies, and we need a lot of Asian-American middle-aged women (40-60 years old) to participate and make the data more complete. We believe that Asian women who are in your organization will benefit from participating in them. Would you please post the following links which are http://moms.nur.utexas.edu/MOMS/ and http://mapa.nur.utexas.edu on your web site or announce these studies through your newsletter or forward to your members? I really appreciate your announcement. If the announcement fee is required, please provide me the related information. In this study, each participant will be reimbursed with a Target gift certificate of 10 dollars per Internet survey. The survey will begin by asking you a series of eligibility questions. If the study has filled our sampling quota for an individual with your characteristics you will receive a message that states so. Below is some background and study announcement of these two studies. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for considering these two studies. Thanks again for your help, Sincerely, MOMS Research Team Chia-Chun Li, Research Assistant, doctoral student School of Nursing, University of Texas at Austin 1700 Red River, Austin, TX 78701
